- Last time, Azhure managed to free Raum and flee with him,
Through the power of Stupid Plot Contrivances. Her little 'plan' never should have worked. She's just lucky that Belial just so happened to have the intelligence of a potato that night.
- Raum can move “far and fast”, but not with Shra and Azhure slowing him. At first, they went fast, but soon Shra began to “fret” and Azhure’s ribs hurt so badly that she could hardly run.
It kind of makes me wonder why he doesn't just take Shra and run, leaving Azhure behind. It's harsh, yes, but he has no reason to think the villagers would hurt Azhure, whereas if they caught him and Shra, there's no telling what they would do this time. It's true that she helped you escape, but this is your life we're talking about, and Shra's. If he's so much faster than Azhure, then he should go.
Or, alternatively, Azhure should see that she's slowing him down and insist that he leave her behind so he and Shra don't get caught again. That would be a truly selfless move on her part.
- She wonders if “somehow Hagen’s spirit [is] revenging itself on her for his murder”.
WUT. Does she think pain comes from evil spirits or something? Does she not know what wounds are?
- Azhure knows he could have been deep in the Avarinheim by now if not for her. So… then I would tell him to go ahead, leave Shra in the Avarinheim and then come back for Azhure.
*gestures wildly* SEE?!
- So they keep going for a while, Azhure’s clothing gets completely soaked by the river, and then Azhure sees Raum pause. He says that the Avarinheim lies ahead and they are nearly home.
...did we have a timeskip here, or is Douglass so bad at showing the passing of time that she makes it sound like you could throw a rock from the village and hit the Avarinheim? They were traveling for like two minutes!
- Just as Axis closed in on him, Raum slipped “on what had to be the last remaining wet patch of path”. Because of course he slipped on the very last bit of wet path, for the drama.
This is like him walking through a room, and finding the only dropped banana peel specifically so he could slip on it. We're descending into Loony Toons type coincidences, here.
- GoldFeather then thinks that he is young and wonders what the Brother-Leader was thinking in appointing someone so young as BattleAxe. Nepotism, of course!
Said nepotism came back to bite him in the ass very quickly, given what a bad leader Axis is. It would be hilarious if it weren't so frustrating and rage-inducing.
