I'm starting to think that's true of pretty much every character in this book. To varying degrees, to be sure, but I can't think of a single instance of genuine selflessness so far.

I don't think there will be any instances in the future either...

I...I can't even. This is The Big Book of Plot Contrivances, and nothing will convince me otherwise.

That there even is a plot is up for debate, really. Beyond a certain point the author completely loses interest in the supposed main villain in favour of endlessly coddling and doing special favours for her favourite doll, Azhure. By the end, the character you're reading about right now will be completely unrecognisable, not to mention irredeemably evil and vile.

You mean like every single author-favored badfic character ever?

Yup, though I was actually thinking of the Inheritance Cycle, in which there's no logical reason for there to be a rebel army in the first place, or any open warfare of the traditional sort either come to that. The main players are far too overpowered to need soldiers, and ordinary troops can't possibly defeat them anyway.
