Yes, the lack of defined powers is indeed a big problem. Come to think of it... I have already defined power sets for several of my OC's:

SCSF: Plant growing and manipulation.

NRSG: Ability to create other Tamed Ones.

Amevlig (used on Making of a Mage): Electro-magnetism; quite broad in their powers, but without much refinement.

FSEG (in my icon; used now on Fellowship of the King): Healing.

And that's when it's not even necessary, and I'm just thinking about them for fun!
