Well I meant just within this trilogy, but fair enough! Does Sa'Kuya (why is she called that? Is she Japanese) really count as an important character? She gets a name, yes, but she only appears in maybe two scenes in the entire trilogy.

SCSF: Ah yes, I could have known that. I am just more familiar with the other books for some reason (presumably because they are less bad), and I did want to give some examples... so I think this is an indication that Douglass became less attached to "beauty" over time, which I suspected, but is nice to have confirmed. Oh, and I think Mirbolt the Bane would also fall in this category, though she is a relatively minor character, too.

For Sa'Kuya... she does appear in quite a number of scenes, but her role seems to be limited to "Ho'Demi's wife", so I would certainly not class her as important. (And her name is nothing next to Izanagi, of course!)

Why, thank you! I do try to be as thorough as possible with this.

coding

That is quite interesting! With asexuality, I wonder if that might have something to do with it (still) being rather unknown, so picking up on the coding is harder? For autism and ADHD... I would expect it to be hard to pick up that the way your brain works is different from others; after all, you have to derive it from ways people interact with the world, and doing a direct comparison is quite hard. In any case, it is lovely to see such protagonists!

relationships

(nods) In general, I tend to care less about romance and such than about the other parts, so I am not unhappy to leave the next books for others, then; this one has had a relatively good ratio so far. An occasion where I could see myself be more invested in romance is when it directly ties into the "saving the world" plot (which Douglass notably does with Threshold, where the main character's romantic relationship with another protagonist changes him to such a degree that he becomes quite valuable in defeating the villain; I would not expect that from this trilogy!).
