So yeah, the idea that ONLY women who look like them will be considered attractive by everyone they meet is just ridiculous.

SCSF: Very much so! People will always have differing tastes, after all, and those will include those not considered conventionally attractive.

How much force does she consider to be okay, then? If Timmy just twisted the guy's wrist a bit would that have been acceptable?

I do get that feeling, even though it does not fit with Faraday's behaviour at all... I am relatively certain that Douglass just wanted to show the ferryman get hurt, no matter if she had to twist characterisation for it.

Yes, I was thinking it was a bit sad that I was the only person who commented! Boring or not, I'm making a point of commenting on every instalment to keep the discussion going! And also I don't want you to feel like nobody's reading this because that's really discouraging. It is for me, anyway.

Well, I think that issue has been resolved for this installment by now! I do appreciate you trying to keep The Discussion going, too; this is a first read, after all, and the more feedback I get, the better the second try will be! (And it is just plain fun to talk to others.)

For it being discouraging... knowing that I will get to do this again, and that I have heard some interest from others, it is not quite as discouraging as it could be, and certainly less so than the book itself is. As a side note, those are the reasons why I am still following MG's Scrolls of the Ancients spork, even though it is not all that engaging; that, and I am too stubborn to stop until I have stayed there as long as I promised myself.
